Meet Ernesia Wright:

Ernesia DeAnna (Wideman) Wright is a powerhouse in the world of sports, an inspiring motivational speaker, and a respected real estate professional.

Born in Augusta, Georgia and a proud alumna of Lucy C. Craft Laney High School, Ernesia has excelled in various leadership roles throughout her career. Her educational journey saw her earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Augusta University, a master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Webster University, and being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Alabama A&M University, retiring as a major in 2021. Always striving for personal growth, she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in the Global Sports and Leadership Program at East Tennessee State University.

Aside from her successful military and academic career, Ernesia is also the visionary founder of The Georgia Soul Women’s and Men’s Basketball Organization, where she has led her teams to multiple championships and accolades.

The Georgia Soul won the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL) Atlantic Region Championship two years in a row and the WBCBL National Championship, making it the first women’s basketball professional team in the Augusta area to win a national title. The Georgia Soul Men, in their first season(2021-2022), were the American Basketball Association (ABA) Georgia State Champions.

Name Team Owner of the Year in 2022 from the Women’s American Basketball Association, Wright’s personal basketball career spans over two decades and includes her leading the Augusta University women’s basketball team to their first South Atlantic Region Championship and her finishing 12th in Women’s Basketball All-Time scoring at Augusta University. She played professionally, signing her first contract with CST Alexandria, in which she played two seasons in Alexandria, Romania.

Now, she is forging a new path, following her passion for real estate, which was ignited in 2013 when she purchased her first home. With her drive to help others achieve their homeownership dreams, Ernesia proudly serves as a realtor for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Beazley Realtors, licensed in Georgia and South Carolina.

 Ernesia’s dedication to excellence extends beyond her professional achievements, as she actively engages in community mentorship programs and is a cherished member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is also a mentor to teenagers and young adults, and a 2022 Graduate of Leadership of Augusta.

A true trailblazer, Ernesia was honored as the youngest inductee into the Lucy C. Laney Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 2023. When not revolutionizing the real estate industry or inspiring others through her speaking engagements, Ernesia cherishes quality time with her husband Rocardo and their daughters Zoey and Zia.
